This work, published in Paris in 2003 and in the meanwhile nearly disappeared from the shelves of booksellers, is now once again available. It traces 25 years of major discoveries in the necropolis of ancient Memphis by the French Archaeological Mission of the Bubasteion under the direction of Alain Zivie. The texts, accompanied by fifty spectacular phtographs by Patrick Chapuis, strikingly convey the atmosphere, the enthusiasm, and the patient day-to-day work that prevailed in this exceptional scientific and human adventure.
